Junior guard Au'Diese Toney became the second Pitt starter in two days to leave the program and enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Toney's departure on Thursday, called a "mutual" decision by Panthers coach Jeff Capel, came just 24 hours after junior point guard Xavier Johnson left the team.
Toney and Johnson were the No. 2 and 3 scorers this season for Pitt (9-9, 5-8 ACC), averaging 14.4 and 14.2 points per game, respectively.
"We have come to the mutual agreement that Au'Diese will be leaving the Pitt Men's Basketball program effective immediately," Capel said in a statement Thursday. "We appreciate his efforts the past three seasons in our program and wish him well as he looks to continue to grow on and off the court."
The Panthers have lost four in a row and seven of their last eight games. Toney sat out the most recent game, a 79-72 home loss to Florida State on Saturday, with an injury. Johnson scored 15 points against the Seminoles.
Toney started 69 of the 79 games in which he played over three seasons with Pittsburgh, averaging 9.7 points, 5.4 assists and 29.3 minutes.
The Panthers and leading scorer Justin Champagnie (18.8 points, 11.4 rebounds) have three regular-season games remaining, starting Sunday at North Carolina State.
