Linebacker Kwon Alexander is returning to the New Orleans Saints on a one-year worth up to $3 million, ESPN reported Tuesday.
Alexander, who turned 27 on Tuesday, appeared to confirm the good news by tweeting, "Birthday lit af right now!!! God Did it again!"
The San Francisco 49ers traded Alexander to the Saints before the 2020 NFL trade deadline in November. Alexander immediately became a starter and made seven starts for New Orleans before tearing his Achilles in Week 16.
The Saints released Alexander in March. Now, he will return to the club for his seventh NFL season.
In his seven games with the team last season, Alexander recorded 27 tackles, four passes defended, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
A fourth-round draft pick in 2015 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Alexander played four seasons for them and 1 1/2 seasons for the Niners before the trade. In 66 career games, all starts, he has amassed 471 tackles, 8 1/2 sacks, seven interceptions, nine forced fumbles and four recoveries.
