One sportsbook set the odds of Aaron Rodgers' return to Green Bay at 30 percent as signs point to a new home for the MVP quarterback.
Rodgers and the Packers were bounced from the NFC playoffs in their opening game Saturday night, a divisional playoff upset at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.
Rodgers and the Packers are expected to meet soon to discuss his plans, but Rodgers reasserted his preference to play for a contender. Because the Packers are projected to be more than $40 million over the salary cap and Rodgers' cap hit is just above that mark, the simple math indicates bringing him back for an 18th season would leave Green Bay little room to bolster the roster elsewhere.
That includes the free agency status of All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams is an unrestricted free agent. The Packers can retain him using the franchise tag, but the ballpark $18 million hit for one season creates another layer of salary-cap headaches.
Sportsbetting.ag set the odds of Rodgers being the Packers' starting quarterback in Week 1 of the 2022 season at -225, which equates to a 69.2 percent implied probability.
They also set the line to favor the Denver Broncos as the team Rodgers lands with in the offseason.
Here is the entire board of Rodgers' potential teams in 2022:
Broncos 250
Steelers 350
Dolphins 450
Eagles 550
Browns 750
Raiders 900
Jets 1200
Panthers 1400
Saints 1400
Titans 1400
Giants 1600
Seahawks 1600
Ravens 2000
