Mark Scheifele registered a goal and two assists to guide the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-1 road win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
Kyle Connor chipped in a goal and an assist for the Jets, while Nikolaj Ehlers and Adam Lowry also scored and Gabriel Vilardi notched three assists. Eric Comrie made 21 saves for Winnipeg, which had lost its previous three games (0-2-1), including a 2-1 setback after a shootout against Philadelphia on Saturday.
Matvei Michkov scored the lone goal for Philadelphia, which has lost three of its past four games (1-2-1). Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson finished with 23 saves.
The Jets scored two power-play goals in the first period, beginning with Scheifele's team-leading 35th of the season at 8:32. Ersson stopped Vilardi's blast from the slot, but Scheifele's rebound attempt on the backhand leaked through Ersson to make it 1-0.
Winnipeg made it 2-0 with just under five minutes left in the period. Connor sent a cross-ice pass to Scheifele, although the puck barely made it to him. Still, Scheifele was able to one-time a pass right to the doorstep to Ehlers, who rammed it home for his 20th of the season.
Early in the second period, Connor zipped down the right side, took a feed from Scheifele and beat Ersson with a wrister for his 32nd goal at 5:28.
Winnipeg captain Adam Lowry made it 4-0 about 3 1/2 minutes later. With the Jets on an offensive rush, Mason Appleton centered the puck to Lowry, who banged it home for his first goal since Jan. 18.
Overall, the four-goal performance had to be a welcome sight for the Jets, who had totaled only four goals over their previous three games.
Michkov spoiled Comrie's bid for his fourth career shutout with 2:42 remaining in the third period, becoming the first rookie to reach the 20-goal mark this season.
