Josh Naylor had two hits, including a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks came back to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 in Phoenix on Sunday.
Corbin Carroll, who has reached base in all 16 games this season, collected two hits and scored twice, including the go-ahead run in the seventh, as Arizona won the rubber match of the three-game series. Alek Thomas delivered a two-run single in the eighth to pad the lead.
The Diamondbacks, who fell behind on William Contreras' two-run homer in the first inning, have come from behind in seven of their nine victories, including their last two.
Contreras and Brice Turang notched two hits apiece for the Brewers, who lost a four-run lead in the ninth inning in a 5-4 defeat Saturday.
Carroll led off the seventh in a 2-2 game with a single off Bryan Hudson (0-1), took second on a balk and was sacrificed to third by Geraldo Perdomo. Pinch hitter Randal Grichuk was intentionally walked before Naylor singled up the middle for a 3-2 lead.
Jalen Beeks (1-0) pitched a scoreless seventh for the win and A.J. Puk struck out Jaskson Chourio with two on in the ninth for his third save in as many chances.
Arizona starter Zac Gallen gave up two runs on five hits in six innings, with three walks and five strikeouts. The Brewers had three hits in the first inning, including Contreras' homer, but had only two more in Gallen's final five innings.
Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta gave up two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings with four walks and six strikeouts. He had been 4-0 with an 0.84 ERA in his previous five appearances against the Diamondbacks.
Turang singled to open the first inning before Contreras hit a two-out, two-run homer, his third of the season. Contreras is 5-for-12 with two homers and four RBIs against Gallen in his career.
Arizona scored in the fifth when Tim Tawa doubled to open the inning, was sacrificed to third and scored on a two-out wild pitch by Peralta to make it 2-1.
Naylor hit a pop fly to left-center that bounced out of shortstop Joey Ortiz's glove for a single to open the sixth. After Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Jake McCarthy walked to load the bases, Tawa tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
