Veteran spent 2024 season with Jaguars
Zach Gershman
After a defensive heavy offseason, the pieces on offense continue to trickle in as Phase Two of the offseason kicked off.
The Cardinals signed tight end Josiah Deguara on Monday. Deguara, a five year veteran, spent last season with the Jaguars. He entered the league with the Packers as their third-round pick in 2020.
At 6-foot-2, Deguara has spent most of his tenure in the NFL as a special teams guy, logging over 800 snaps in that phase of the game. As a tight end, he has two career touchdowns to go along with 450 yards on 50 receptions. Deguara joins a tight end room anchored by Trey McBride.
Following the draft, the Cardinals agreed to terms with undrafted rookie free agent, UTSA tight end Oscar Cardenas. In an offense that uses 12 and 13 personnel 47 percent of the time, depth at that position is critical. Deguara will compete with Cardenas and Travis Vokolek.
Tight end Bernhard Seikovits, who spent four seasons with the Cardinals as a member of the NFL's international player pathway program, was released by the team last week. While the roster with Deguara's addition sits at 91, the Cardinals can use their open international exemption spot on undrafted rookie offensive lineman Valentin Senn.
