Free agent guard Mike Conley Jr. is ready to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, ESPN reported on Friday.
Per the network, Conley and the Timberwolves are negotiating a time for the re-signing.
Conley, 38, was with Minnesota to begin the week before being traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of a three-team trade. He then was flipped to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, one day before the NBA's trade deadline. The Hornets promptly waived Conley, who now is eligible to re-sign with the Timberwolves since he was traded a second time.
Conley sports career-low averages in points (4.4) and assists (2.9) in 44 games this season with Minnesota.
An All-Star in 2020-21, Conley is contributing 13.7 points and 5.6 assists across 1,216 career games (1,137 starts) with the Memphis Grizzlies (2007-19), Utah Jazz (2019-23) and the Timberwolves. The Grizzlies selected Conley with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Ohio State.
