San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox on Thursday was named to replace injured Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game.
Fox will join the USA Stripes team led by Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson for the Sunday game, while Miami Heat guard Norman Powell -- who has ties to Jamaica -- will shift from the American contingent to Team World.
Fox, 28, will be competing in his second NBA All-Star Game and his first since the 2022-23 season.
He is averaging 19.4 points, 6.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 45 games (all starts) this season.
Antetokounmpo, 31, is continuing in his recovery after straining his right calf on Jan. 23. He is averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 30 starts this season.
A two-time NBA MVP and nine-time All-Star who led the Bucks to their first NBA championship in 50 years in 2021, Antetokounmpo is the franchise's all-time leader in games (889), points (21,377), rebounds (8,831), assists (4,456) and blocked shots (1,086).
