Jontay Porter is returning to professional basketball.
On Wednesday, the Seattle SuperHawks of the United States Basketball League signed Porter to their 2026 roster.
Porter is returning to the court after being banned for life by the NBA in 2024 for gambling. The league determined that the power forward purposefully limited his participation in two games in order to influence wagers made on his performance.
Porter currently is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a felony that carries up to 20 years in prison. Per ESPN, he is expected to receive between three and four years when he is sentenced.
The SuperHawks begin their season on March 7 in the USBL, which has the following listed under its league values:
'The games we play must be decided on the court. Every rule we establish, every policy we implement, and every decision we make is guided by a commitment to fair competition. Players, coaches, and fans must be able to trust that the outcomes they witness are earned through skill, preparation, and effort -- nothing else.'
Porter, 26, averaged 3.7 points through 37 career games (five starts) for the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors.
He is the brother of Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets.
