The Washington Capitals acquired defenseman Timothy Liljegren from the San Jose Sharks on Friday in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The draft pick originally belonged to the Vegas Golden Knights.
Liljegren, 26, has recorded 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 43 games this season with the Sharks. He is in the final season of a two-year, $6 million contract and set to become an unrestricted free agent.
A first-round pick (17th overall) by Toronto in 2017, the Sweden native has notched 93 points (21 goals, 72 assists) in 307 games with the Maple Leafs (2019-24) and Sharks.
