Jaden McDaniels scored 25 points on 10-for-17 shooting and the Minnesota Timberwolves stormed back for a 110-108 overtime win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night in Minneapolis.
Julius Randle added 24 points for Minnesota (45-28), which won for the fourth time in its past five games. Rudy Gobert finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds and Naz Reid tallied 14 points and 13 boards off the bench.
Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun scored 30 points apiece to lead Houston (43-29), which has lost four of its last six. Jabari Smith Jr. notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards.
After the Rockets rallied from down 10 with 5:15 left in regulation to force overtime -- with Durant scoring the final seven points of the fourth quarter -- the Timberwolves finished the game on a 15-0 run.
Houston took a 108-95 lead when Sengun made a dunk with 3:01 left in overtime.
Minnesota refused to quit. Conley drained a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 108-98 with 2:45 to go in the extra session, and Kyle Anderson converted a three-point play to pull Minnesota within 108-101 with 2:20 to go.
After layups by Donte DiVincenzo and Randle brought Minnesota within 108-105, DiVincenzo knocked down a 3-pointer to even the score. His deep ball from the top of the key made it 108-all with 55.5 seconds left.
Randle finished the scoring when he drove inside the free throw line and pulled up for a jump shot with 8.8 seconds remaining.
Terrence Shannon Jr. deflected the Rockets' inbounds pass in the final seconds.
McDaniels provided a highlight-reel play in the fourth quarter. He stripped Durant near midcourt, grabbed the ball and dribbled toward the rim for a right-handed jam that brought his teammates on the bench to their feet.
Minnesota held a 44-43 lead at the half.
Ayo Dosunmu was ruled out before the game because of soreness in his right calf. Dosunmu appeared in the previous 18 games since joining the Timberwolves, with whom he is averaging 13.2 points per game.
Four-time All-Star Anthony Edwards also remained out for Minnesota because of inflammation in his right knee. He took part in running and agility drills before the game, but the team has not set a date for his return from injury.
