Trevor Moore scored in overtime as the Los Angeles Kings edged the visiting St. Louis Blues 2-1 on Wednesday night.
Moore started the rush from his own end, skated around Jonatan Berggren and put his shot blocker side past Jordan Binnington at 1:56 of the extra period for his 11th of the season and first career overtime winner.
Adrian Kempe scored in regulation and Anton Forsberg made 23 saves as Los Angeles (30-26-18, 78 points) leapfrogged the Nashville Predators and moved into the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
Wednesday's win was just the second in seven games for the Kings (2-2-3), which improved to 11-17-8 on home ice this season.
Robert Thomas responded for the Blues, while Binnington made 24 saves.
St. Louis (31-31-12, 74 points) has dropped back-to-back games after having its four-game winning streak snapped in Monday's loss at the San Jose Sharks.
The Blues, who are four points behind the Kings in the wild-card standings, are winless in four straight against the Kings (0-1-3).
Despite the loss, St. Louis has points in 13 of its last 15 games (10-2-3).
Thomas tied it 1-1 at 16:07 of the third as Philip Broberg's point shot directed off Thomas' skate and past Forsberg for his 17th of the season.
Kempe put the Kings on the board at 16:59 of the second period on a power play, shooting a no-look backhand pass from Alex Laferriere past Binnington for his team-leading 28th of the season. With the goal, Kempe extended his point streak to three games (two goals, two assists).
Artemi Panarin picked up the secondary assist, giving him eight career 50-assist seasons.
Wednesday was the teams' third and final meeting of the season. Los Angeles edged St. Louis 2-1 in overtime Oct. 21 before picking up a 5-4 shootout win Jan. 24.
