Iowa State sharpshooter Milan Momcilovic declared for the NBA draft on Sunday and also said he will enter his name into the transfer portal.
Momcilovic led the nation this season with a school-record 136 3-pointers as well as his 48.8% accuracy rate. He averaged 16.9 points in 37 games for the Cyclones, who earned a No. 2 seed and reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in Momcilovic's tenure.
'The last three years have been the best of my life, and (Iowa State fans) have been a major part of that,' Momcilovic said in a socal media post. 'It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NBA.
'At this time, I'm turning my full focus to the NBA Draft, while also entering my name in the Transfer Portal, with the goal of being in the 2026 NBA Draft.'The 6-foot-8 Momcilovic has 260 3-pointers in his three college seasons, which shares second in school history with Naz Mitrou-Long (2012-17). Jake Sullivan (2000-04) is the school leader with 270.
Overall, Momcilovic compiled a 13.2 scoring average in 102 games (101 starts) with the Cyclones.
'Milan and I have had meaningful discussions about his future over the last couple of weeks,' Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger said in a statement. 'He needs to focus on what is best for him and his family.
'We can't thank him enough for what he has done for our program. We look forward to following him as he pursues his dream of playing in the NBA.'
Iowa State went 29-8 this season and was ousted by Tennessee in the Sweet 16.
