Daylen Lile and Luis Garcia Jr. each had three hits, including two home runs and the Washington Nationals beat the host Cincinnati Reds 10-4 on Tuesday night.
Lile, from nearby Louisville, Ken., hit a solo home run in the fourth and a three-run shot in the fifth for his first career multi-homer game.
Garcia hit two solo home runs, and James Wood and Brady House also homered for the Nationals.
Lile and Garcia are the sixth pair of Nationals (2005-present) to have multi-home games in the same game and the first since Brian Dozier and Juan Soto (Aug. 18, 2019, in a 16-8 home win over the Brewers).
Washington right-hander Brad Lord (2-0) pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.
Sal Stewart had three hits and JJ Bleday had two hits and two RBIs for the Reds.
Cincinnati's Brady Singer (2-3) stayed in the game after taking a 100-plus mph grounder from Lile off his right leg in the second inning. He gave up three runs on six hits over 3 2/3 innings.
The Nationals took a 2-0 lead in the third when Wood homered to left-center and Garcia followed with a long ball to right.
Lile, with a contingent of about 70 family members and friends on hand, led off the fourth with a home run to right.
The Reds answered in their half of the fourth. Singles by Elly De La Cruz and Stewart followed by a walk to Bleday loaded the bases against starter Miles Mikolas. Matt McLain grounded into a fielder's choice to score a run. After Will Benson walked, Lord came on. Tyler Stephenson reached on a fielding error by third baseman House and another run scored to pull the Reds within 3-2.
Garcia homered leading off the fifth for 4-2, then House walked and CJ Abrams singled. After Jacob Young grounded into a fielder's choice, Lile homered to right to make it 7-2.
Keibert Ruiz doubled in the eighth, and House hit a two-run homer.
Jose Tena doubled in Nasim Nunez in the ninth to make it 10-2, and Bleday hit a two-run single in the bottom half.
