Aaron Rodgers is back for a second season with the Steelers, officially signing a one-year deal for 2026.
The Steelers announced the signing on Monday, well ahead of first-year head coach Mike McCarthy's stated goal of getting Rodgers on the field for mandatory minicamp in June.
According to multiple reports, the deal is worth up to $22 million.
Rodgers left his return uncertain when longtime head coach Mike Tomlin announced he would not be back with the Steelers in 2026. Rodgers made it clear he signed with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2025 in large part because of Tomlin's voice at the top of the organization.
But he's also no stranger to McCarthy, his coach from 2006 to 2018 in Green Bay, who was hired by the Steelers in January. In 2011, they won the Super Bowl (against the Steelers) and Rodgers was Super Bowl MVP.
Rodgers started all 16 games he played for the Steelers in 2025, missing one game due to a wrist injury. He completed 327 of 498 passes (65.7%) for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.
The four-time NFL MVP has played 21 total seasons. In 264 games (257 starts) he has completed 65.1% passes for 66,274 yards and 527 touchdowns with 123 interceptions.
