Yegor Sharangovich scored the shootout-winning goal to give the host Calgary Flames a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday and run their winning streak to a season-best four games.
Olli Maatta and Zayne Parekh tallied during regulation for Calgary (30-34-7, 67 points).
Goaltender Dustin Wolf made 23 saves through overtime and was beaten by only once in the shootout during the comeback victory.
Sharangovich scored the decisive tally when he lost the handle while attempting a deke, but the puck slipped through the netminder's legs.
Quinton Byfield netted both regulation-time goals for the Kings (28-25-18, 74 points), who are winless in four games, three of them in extra time.
Goalie Darcy Kuemper stopped 21 shots through overtime but only two of four in the shootout.
In the first three rounds of the shootout, Morgan Forst scored for Calgary and Artemi Panarin answered for the Kings.
Los Angeles, which has suffered 18 extra-time losses this season, is three points behind the Nashville Predators for the Western Conference's second wild-card spot.
The Kings have played a league-high 28 games beyond regulation this season.
The Flames are 10 points out of a playoff spot with 11 games left, but they keep playing spoiler, and this is a great example against a Los Angeles team fighting for its playoff life.
Amidst a low-event first period, Byfield opened the scoring 2:35 into the clash. The hulking winger was sprung on a partial breakaway by Joel Armia on the rush and followed up with a deke and nifty backhand goal.
Maatta scored his first goal of the season at 14:50 of the second period. Victor Olofsson's shot attempt deflected off a defender's skate directly to Maatta in the right circle, and he quickly fired a shot into the net for his first goal since Feb. 6, 2025, ending a 57-game drought.
Byfield buried his second of the game 17 seconds into the third period. Trevor Moore's chip pass sent Byfield on a breakaway and he converted a quick shot inside the far post for his fourth goal in as many outings.
However, Parekh tied the clash again with his first of the campaign. The rookie defenseman threaded a point shot during a 5-on-3 power play with 6:58 remaining in the third.
